About the Project

We are looking for native or near-native Malay and Tamil speakers in Singapore to contribute to a short-term speech data collection project supporting the development of AI and speech technologies.

You will record short spoken audio clips based on provided scripts and conversational scenarios. Topics will include everyday conversations, consumer banking interactions, and health-related scenarios.

This is not simply a read-the-script exercise. The recordings should sound natural and conversational, and some prompts may need to be rephrased while preserving their intended meaning.

The expected scope is approximately 2–3 hours of final, accepted audio per speaker, made up of short clips generally lasting 5–20 seconds.

What You'll Do

• Record short audio clips in Malay or Tamil based on provided scripts and scenarios.
• Deliver natural, conversational speech using authentic pronunciation, pacing, tone, pauses, and expressions.
• Follow the project's audio quality, privacy, and recording guidelines.

Requirements

You may be a good fit if you:

• Are a native or near-native speaker of Malay or Tamil.
• Were born and raised in Singapore or have spent most of your life in Singapore.
• Speak Malay or Tamil naturally in a way that reflects how the language is commonly used in Singapore.
• Can make scripted content sound natural and conversational rather than simply reading it aloud.
• Have strong pronunciation and verbal communication skills.
• Can follow detailed instructions and maintain consistency across recordings.
• Are comfortable contributing voice recordings to a dataset intended for AI/model training and commercial use.

Experience in voice-over, dubbing, theatre, broadcasting, podcasting, presenting, content creation, or similar voice-based work is strongly preferred.

Recording Requirements

You will need access to a quiet, controlled recording environment and suitable equipment capable of producing high-quality WAV audio.

Recordings must be delivered raw and unprocessed. Noise suppression, audio enhancement, compression, EQ, voice transformation, pitch shifting, AI cleanup, or other post-processing must not be applied.

Detailed technical and recording instructions will be provided before recording begins.

Voice Sample

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide approximately one minute of raw, unprocessed voice recordings.

The sample will help us assess naturalness, pronunciation, audio quality, recording environment, and suitability for the project.

AI-generated speech, text-to-speech, voice cloning, or voice conversion may not be used to produce any recordings.

Important Information About Your Voice Data

Before participating, selected contributors will be required to provide written consent covering the collection and use of their recordings.

The recordings will form part of a dataset intended for AI/model training and commercial use, and the associated usage rights will be perpetual and irrevocable.

Full consent and project documentation will be provided for review before participation begins.
