Allegion is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a unique manufacturing and automation environment.  This position will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to real-world projects gaining valuable skills in industrial automation. Due to the nature of this role, please keep in mind this position will require onsite work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Troubleshoot and repair factory machinery, electrical and mechanical, pneumatic systems.
  • Correct and/or improve existing production processes and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical staff on process improvements and plant changes.
  • Operate simple test equipment, including, but not limited to: Multi-meter, tape measure, dial indicators, measurement tools.
  • Move machinery, including rigging and utility connections.
  • Fabricate equipment as needed, including cutting, welding, grinding.
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs and machine controllers.
  • Manage PM work order system and daily maintenance workload.   
  • Ensure that proper safety procedures are used in maintaining and repairing of production equipment.
  • Foster Safety program to continually improve safety practices.
  • Monitor and communicate on equipment repairs with operations, engineering and staff level employees.
  • Comfortable with computer usage, email, Microsoft word, excel and project.
  • Track and report on metrics for schedule attainment, machine downtime and WPO.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and color vision.

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Generally works 40 hours per week plus required overtime as needed.
  • Organized with strong sense of urgency.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.  Ability to proactively interact with internal customers. Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with all levels of customers, clients, vendors, visitors and employees.
  • Must be willing to participate in internal and external training programs for maintenance and safety.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and effectively manage project timelines.
  • Ability to apply problem solving techniques, previous experience preferred.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and five (5) years maintenance experience required.

Preferred: Associates degree with five years maintenance experience and 2 years leadership experience.
