Purpose

The Maintenance Superintendent supports the Maintenance Manager in the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance activities throughout the facility. This position serves as a technical resource and operational support leader for Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians, ensuring maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Maintenance Manager in the coordination and execution of all maintenance operations. 
  • Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians. 
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. 
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, shutdown activities, and major repair projects. 
  • Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and facility-related issues. 
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend actions to improve reliability and uptime. 
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades. 
  • Assist with maintenance planning, work order prioritization, and resource allocation. 
  • Support inventory management of maintenance parts and critical spares. 
  • Promote compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain operational knowledge of all plant equipment and facility systems. 
  • Complete and maintain Forklift and Crane Operator training requirements. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. 

May be called upon to assist in other duties as needed to ensure quality level of facility activities.Responsible for all customer specific requirements where applicable, including those referenced in the QMS manuals.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. 
  • Trade school certification or technical degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The Maintenance Superintendent provides technical guidance, coordination, and operational support to Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Technicians while working closely with the Maintenance Manager

Work Environment

Regular work in both office and manufacturing environments with frequent plant floor presence.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
