ISP Maintenance Staff Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the Cleaning Staff role is to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all building occupants. This includes performing regular cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, and waste disposal, in accordance with established health and safety standards. Cleaning staff play a vital role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of facilities, helping to create a welcoming and healthy atmosphere for students, staff, visitors, or customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on facilities, machinery, equipment, and installations.
• Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to identify defects, wear, leaks, or potential safety hazards.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility issues, according to qualifications.
• Respond to maintenance requests and breakdowns in a timely manner.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance activities according to established procedures and maintenance plans.
• Replace or repair damaged components, tools, fixtures, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and spare parts used.
• Assist with the installation, relocation, modification, and commissioning of equipment and facilities.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with health, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Coordinate with contractors and external service providers when specialized maintenance is required.
• Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
• Maintain adequate inventory of commonly used spare parts, materials, and maintenance supplies.
• Support emergency repairs and other operational requirements as needed.

Skills:

• Basic to advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or general maintenance, depending on the position.
• Ability to diagnose problems and perform practical troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance records and work orders.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas where applicable.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• 1–3 years of relevant maintenance experience for an entry-level/intermediate position.
• Previous experience with preventive maintenance programs and work-order systems is an advantage.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical equipment is preferred.
• Experience working with contractors or specialized maintenance providers is a plus.
