Live Events Instructional Designer Learning Consultant

About the Job

The P3 Live Events Instructional Designer Learning Consultant is an individual contributor responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of learning experiences that drive business outcomes. This is an instructional design role focused on live event learning environments, applying adult learning principles to in-person sessions, workshops, and facilitated experiences. The role emphasizes learning objectives, session flow, audience engagement, and practical application—not event logistics. This role partners with business leaders, subject matter experts, and program leads to translate strategic priorities into impactful learning solutions. The Instructional Designer independently manages complex initiatives, determines the most effective learning approach, and serves as a trusted advisor on instructional design best practices.

Consistent with the Northwestern Mutual P3 Professional Band, this role is expected to solve complex learning challenges, lead significant projects, influence stakeholders through expertise, and act as a resource to other instructional designers.

  • Develop learning assets including facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, activities, assessments, and reinforcement tools.
  • Incorporate adult learning principles, accessibility standards, and inclusive design practices into all learning solutions.

Project Leadership

  • Lead complex learning initiatives with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Establish project plans, manage timelines, and drive accountability across contributors to deliver content on time, on brand, and against agreed-upon quality standards.
  • Identify risks and proactively implement solutions.

Live Learning Delivery & Speaker Enablement

  • Lead live learning content delivery and enable speakers, facilitators, and contributors through speaker preparation, content reviews, and rehearsals, using established learning plans, tools, and standard operating procedures consistently.
  • Ensure learning experiences align with strategic objectives and learner needs.
  • Evaluate learner capability, confidence, performance, satisfaction, and engagement against established success measures; use findings to improve future learning experiences.

Thought Leadership & Capability Building

  • Share best practices, innovative learning approaches, and emerging instructional design trends.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of team processes, templates, tools, and standards.
  • Champion learning excellence and learner-centered design principles.
