Job Summary
The Legal Counsel, PEXA Legal provides legal and operational support to deliver accurate and timely mortgage related services for First Title clients. The role supports electronic conveyancing through PEXA and paper lodgements, reviews legal documents and advises on mortgage matters. It also assists the wider business with legal queries as required. Work is undertaken on a casual basis during agreed shifts.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assurance checks on draft mortgages and other dealing instruments prepared by the First Title Operations team within agreed timeframes
- Review supporting evidence and, where authorised, sign and certify dealings for lodgement through PEXA or paper channels in accordance with applicable requirements
- Provide practical egal advice on the preparation, execution and registration of mortgages and related dealings
- Review trust deeds, self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) documentation and commercial leases, and provide findings within agreed service standards
- Undertake legal research and assist with other legal matters, as directed by the Manager, PEXA Legal.
- Perform other duties as required

Essential Requirements:
- Legal Qualifications with a current NSW Solicitors Practicing Certificate
- Previous experience in using the PEXA platform
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Adaptive, willing to learn, and can-do attitude
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, high-volume work environment
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous work experience in mortgage processing, the financial services industry or property conveyancing field
