About the Role   

Yondr Group, a global developer, owner and operator of hyperscale data centres, is seeking an experienced lawyer to support its growing EMEA business. Reporting to the Legal Director EMEA, the successful candidate will act as the primary legal adviser to Yondr's design, construction and operations teams across the EMEA region.

The role will support the full project lifecycle, from development, procurement and financing through construction, completion and operations. The successful candidate will work closely with project delivery, commercial, procurement and operational teams, supporting projects involving a range of delivery models, funding structures and stakeholders, including customers, lenders, investors, contractors, consultants, utility providers and suppliers.

The role will be expected to operate independently on day-to-day matters, leading legal support across Yondr's EMEA construction and operations portfolio whilst managing legal risk and stakeholder requirements. This includes ensuring project documentation appropriately reflects contractual, leasing, funding and other stakeholder requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor with 6+ years' PQE with significant experience in primarily non-contentious construction, infrastructure, energy or data centre projects (preferred).
  • Have trained at a reputable law firm or within the legal function of a reputable data centre, construction, infrastructure, energy or technology business.
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex procurement, construction. supply and services agreements, including familiarity with FIDIC-based contracting.
  • Experience advising on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, funding structures and jurisdictions, including management of external counsel where required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary legal business partner for Yondr's design, construction and operations teams across EMEA, leading legal support across the procurement, construction and operation of Yondr's data centre portfolio.
  • Attend and lead weekly project, commercial, procurement and operational meetings and provide practical legal support on live matters.
  • Lead negotiations of Heads of Terms, D&B and other works agreements, consultant appointments, framework agreements and other key project and commercial documentation (including PCGs, Bonds, CWs).
  • Coordinate investor, lender, customer and other stakeholder contractual requirements (including funders' requirements around ancillary and security documents such as collateral warranties, PCGs and bonds) with internal stakeholders and external counsel, ensuring that project documentation appropriately reflects upstream obligations, leasing and project-specific requirements.
  • Support leasing workstreams and ensure construction and operational documentation aligns with, and remains compliant with, Yondr's leasing obligations.
  • Support the development and implementation of Yondr's contracting strategy, including standard forms, contracting positions and negotiation playbooks.
  • Advise on project delivery, contract administration and claims management matters, including variations, notices, payment issues and dispute avoidance.
  • Manage contracts governed by multiple legal systems, coordinating with and managing external counsel across various jurisdictions to ensure consistent contracting positions and compliance with applicable legal and stakeholder requirements.
  • Provide pragmatic day-to-day legal support across the EMEA business, including the review and negotiation of commercial, technology, software, workplace, professional services, confidentiality and intra-group agreements.
  • Identify and appropriately escalate material legal, commercial, contractual, regulatory and strategic risks to the Legal Director EMEA and VP General Counsel.
  • Support the development of legal processes, governance standards and risk management frameworks across the business, including driving contract lifecycle automation and the continued implementation and utilisation of Ironclad as Yondr's contract management platform.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong commercial judgement and appreciation of business objectives when providing legal advice.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a complex and diverse workload under tight and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, concise and actionable legal advice.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and stakeholder requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, and a collaborative team-orientated approach with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams, as well as external stakeholders, working effectively across multiple jurisdictions, business functions and levels of seniority.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of matters, working independently and exercising sound judgement on when issues should be escalated.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and accountability
