About the Role

Location: New York City
Commitment: 5-6 Days In-Person

We're looking for a lawyer who wants to build, not just advise. Our customers are some of the most demanding institutions in the world, and every contract, security review and policy we write has to hold up to them.

As Legal at Endex, you'll own commercial contracts, privacy, AI regulation and corporate matters. You'll work directly with our founders, GTM and engineering teams to protect the company while keeping it moving fast.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Own Commercial Contracts: Draft, review and negotiate MSAs, order forms, DPAs and pilot agreements with enterprise customers. Close deals quickly without giving away what matters.

• Partner with GTM: Work alongside our AEs on complex deals. Get ahead of legal and procurement objections so contracts move at the speed of the sale.

• Lead Privacy and Data Protection: Own our approach to GDPR, CCPA and customer data handling. Partner with engineering and security on SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and customer security reviews.

• Navigate AI Regulation: Track emerging AI laws and regulatory guidance across the industries we serve. Translate them into clear, practical policies for the team.

• Protect Our IP: Manage trademarks, open-source usage and IP terms across customer and vendor agreements.

• Support the Company: Advise on employment, equity, vendor agreements, corporate governance and financings. Be the first call for any legal question across the business.

• Build the Function: Create the templates, playbooks and processes we'll scale on. You're not just handling legal work. You're helping define how legal operates at Endex.

What We're Looking For

• Proven attorney: 4-10 years of experience, with time at a top law firm and in-house at a technology company. JD and active bar admission required.

• Commercially minded: You see legal as a lever for growth. You know which risks matter, which don't and how to get a deal done.

• Technically fluent: You want to understand how agentic systems work and how data moves through them. You're comfortable working directly with engineers.

• Credible with experts: You can hold your own with general counsel, procurement and security teams at the largest firms in the world.

• Clear communicator: You turn complex legal issues into plain, actionable advice. Your memos are short and your answers are direct.

• Relentlessly resourceful: You move fast, leverage your network and figure things out without a playbook.

• Low ego: You listen actively, welcome feedback and stay focused on outcomes rather than credit.

Nice to Have

• Early-stage startup experience

• Experience with AI, data privacy or enterprise SaaS

• Experience negotiating with financial institutions or Fortune 500 companies
