Hogan Lovells Cadwalader · Onsite · New York - 200 Liberty

We are seeking a highly motivated, tech-savvy graduating senior or recent college graduate to join a leading law firm and work at the forefront of the rapidly developing intersection of artificial intelligence and legal practice.

The position will work closely with members of the firm's Structured Finance & Derivatives group to experiment with, evaluate, develop, and implement cutting-edge AI and technology tools designed to transform how lawyers perform their work.

The position will provide an opportunity to work directly with attorneys on real-world applications of AI to legal workflows—including document drafting and analysis, legal research, transaction processes, and other aspects of sophisticated transactional practice.

This position is particularly well suited for someone who is considering a career at the intersection of technology and law, including candidates who may ultimately pursue law school, technology, legal operations, consulting, or other technology-focused careers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with attorneys and other members of the team, Legal AI Analyst will:

  • Experiment with and evaluate AI tools such as Harvey, Legora, Claude Cowork, Microsoft Copilot/Cowork, and other emerging legal technology platforms.
  • Explore innovative ways to use AI to streamline and improve legal workflows.
  • Help develop and test AI-powered workflows for sophisticated structured finance transactions.
  • Assist attorneys in identifying repetitive or inefficient processes that may be improved through AI or automation.
  • Develop and refine prompts, workflows, and other techniques for getting the most useful results from AI systems.
  • Test AI-generated work product for accuracy, reliability, and usefulness.
  • Assist in implementing successful AI workflows within the Structured Finance practice.
  • Research emerging AI technologies and assess their potential applications to legal work.
  • Work creatively with attorneys and technology professionals to develop new approaches to legal tasks that have traditionally been performed manually.
  • All members of the firm are encouraged to participate in our firm’s Global Responsible Business program.
  • Work on other duties as assigned.

We are looking for someone who is curious, entrepreneurial, highly motivated, and comfortable experimenting with technology.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; coursework or experience in computer science, data science, engineering, AI, or a related technical field is preferable.
  • Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar platforms is desired.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, data analysis, coding, automation, or other technology tools is also a plus.
  • Interest in law, finance, or legal technology.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest and proficiency with technology.
  • Ability to learn new software and AI tools quickly.
  • Creative, self-directed, and highly motivated approach to problem-solving.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

A major or coursework in computer science, data science, information technology, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

We are equally interested in candidates from other academic backgrounds who are exceptionally tech-savvy, intellectually curious, and eager to learn. The candidate does not need to be a programmer. What matters most is the ability to understand technology, experiment with it intelligently, and think creatively about how it can be applied to real-world problems.
