Job Description Summary

Avio Aero as a part of a GE Aviation Business is the leading company in the aeronautic business sector for the design, manufacturing and maintenance of components and systems for civil and military aero engines. We offer an opportunity of development in our Design Engineering Center team located in Bielsko-Biała plant!

Aim of this role is to support lean initiatives and principles implementation in Avio Polska Engineering Center (Bielsko Biała) and cost optimization projects of aviation engine components (Low Pressure Turbine Nozzles and rotor, engine structures).
Internship will last 12 months.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of lean projects in the Engineering Center using lean tools and techniques (5S, kaizen)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on lean projects, continuous improvement, and standard work implementation

  • Support Lean and Design teams on design projects focused on cost optimization (aviation engine components: low-pressure turbine nozzles and rotors, engine structures)

  • Collect, measure, and analyze data related to continuous improvement projects

  • Participate in problem-solving and root-cause analysis

  • Foster lean principles and knowledge among engineering individual contributors – support lean trainings and events (Kaizens)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Currently in 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate program, or a recent graduate, in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering, or in another engineering/technical discipline with a focus on lean or operations management

  • Good English and Polish communication

  • Good knowledge and practice of MS Office (Excel, Power Point)

  • Self-motivation, open for new challenges and learning, team player

  • Fundamental skills on drawings and technical documentation

  • Availability to participate in a full-time internship during 12 months

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong motivation in technical career growth

  • Good understanding of lean principles and associated tools

  • Basic understanding of engine gas turbine principles

  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical components principles (material durability, static, dynamic)

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and material application in aviation industry

  • Basic knowledge about Finite Element Method with skills in Ansys or Hyper Mesh

  • Basic knowledge of 2d/3d modelling (Unigraphics)
