We are currently hiring a Lead Full Stack Developer to help grow our company and ensure our mission is achieved!

This role is a work from home position and can be performed remotely anywhere in the continental US or at our corporate location in Utah.

YOU ARE: A hands-on full stack lead who codes daily across the entire stack — backend APIs and services through to browser-delivered UIs — and lives and breathes AI-assisted development. You use AI coding tools as your default way of writing, reviewing, and shipping code, and you're always looking for the next piece of engineering toil to automate away with them. This is not an architecture-only or purely advisory role: you're expected to be in the codebase regularly, shipping production work alongside the team you lead. You take the time to understand our lease-to-own business — not just the tech stack — so the systems you build and the decisions you make serve how the business actually operates. Your passion for developer experience, mentoring, and coaching will improve the daily working lives of our colleagues, increase velocity, and deliver quality software to our partners and consumers.
 

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

• Write and ship production code regularly across the full stack — backend services, APIs, and frontend UIs — this is a hands-on engineering role, not a purely architectural one
• Own technical decisions across a multi-service backend platform (C#/.NET and Java/Spring Boot) deployed on Kubernetes (AWS EKS), and the React/TypeScript frontends that consume them
• Build and maintain frontend UI components and views using React and TypeScript, ensuring they integrate cleanly with the backend services and APIs you own
• Ensure end-to-end quality from API contract to browser behavior — you own the whole delivery chain, not just the service layer
• Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) as a daily working tool to write, review, and ship code faster and with higher quality — not as an occasional experiment
• Build and champion internal AI-driven tooling and automation — for testing, deployment validation, code review, or developer workflows — that removes manual toil for the whole team
• Design and drive cross-service and cross-stack initiatives — architecture changes, shared libraries, UI component systems, migrations — spanning multiple codebases and languages
• Learn and stay current on how our lease-to-own business actually works — leasing terms, payments, tax handling, customer lifecycle — so technical tradeoffs reflect real business impact, not just engineering elegance
• Collaborate and participate in developing solutions together in cross-discipline teams
• Actively participate in code reviews, leveraging them to enforce best practices, software craftsmanship, and effective use of AI tooling across the team
• Every engineer plays a part in the development and evolution of our technology roadmap — contribute to evaluations as we select new software, tools, and AI capabilities to deploy in our environments
• Participate in production support: deployments, incident response, and root-cause analysis
• Demonstrate a high sense of ownership and accountability for work produced
   

YOU'LL BRING:

• 8+ years' experience in a software engineering function, still hands-on and writing code day to day across both frontend and backend
• Hands-on experience with a modern frontend framework — React strongly preferred; TypeScript, component design patterns, and state management
• Real depth in at least one of C#/.NET or Java/Spring on the backend, with enough range to be productive in both
• The ability to own delivery end-to-end — from API design through UI implementation and browser-level testing — not just the layer you're most comfortable in
• Daily, hands-on fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) — built real habits around them, not just tried them once
• Experience building internal tooling or automation that measurably reduces manual engineering work
• Genuine curiosity about the business behind the code — willingness to learn how lease-to-own, payments, and tax logic work so you can make better engineering calls, not just take tickets at face value
• Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
• A passion for enriching the day-to-day developer experience
• Track record operating across multiple services/repos and stacks rather than staying in one lane
• Experience with cloud-native deployment (AWS EKS/Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitOps/ArgoCD)
• A desire to work cross-team, cross-stack
• Strong fundamentals: async I/O patterns, resilience (retries/circuit breakers), API design, and financial/decimal-precision correctness where money is involved
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions without needing heavy direction
