About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Lead Biodiversity Offset Programs to drive the development and delivery of our regional biodiversity offset programs. Reporting to the Regional Environment Manager - Biodiversity and Conservation, this role plays a critical leadership position in aligning regulatory commitments with business priorities and sustainable conservation outcomes.

As Lead Biodiversity Offset Programs, you will provide both strategic direction and operational leadership across biodiversity offset initiatives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure programs are effectively designed, implemented and managed to deliver long-term environmental value. This role is central to ensuring Alcoa meets its State and Commonwealth regulatory obligations, while also supporting broader business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the development and delivery of regional biodiversity offset strategies and programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory commitments, business objectives and performance targets.
• Oversee governance and compliance by monitoring performance, managing risks, and ensuring adherence to legislation, standards and ISO requirements.
• Manage end-to-end program execution, including on-ground delivery, external partners, and data-driven monitoring and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement by integrating emerging science, research and best practices into biodiversity programs.
• Build strong internal and external relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on biodiversity risks, opportunities and strategic direction.
• Bring proven experience in biodiversity or environmental program leadership, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and a collaborative, outcomes-focused approach.

What you can bring to the role

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Biodiversity or similar, or equivalent experience in a comparable role.
• Proven experience designing and delivering biodiversity offset or conservation programs, ideally within a mining or resources environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks at both State and Commonwealth levels.
• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic programs, manage risk, and foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience using data and systems (e.g. GIS) to support program delivery; familiarity with ASI, ICMM, EQuIS or Power BI is advantageous.
