The Role

Our Port Melbourne site is not only the home of Vegemite it is also the home of other Australian iconic products, such as Bega Peanut Butter, Bega Simply Nuts, Zoosh and Cream Cheese. VEGEMITE has been proudly made in Port Melbourne, Australia since 1923.

Reporting to the Microbiology Section Manager, this critical role is responsible for providing service and technical support in all areas of product and material analysis, including analyses of finished goods, raw materials, environmental surveys, and equipment calibration.  This is a great opportunity to get experience across all those areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and advanced testing, including confirmatory analyses

• Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory equipment, respond to equipment breakdowns and repairs.

• Develop, implement, validate, and improve methods, including associated laboratory quality control activities (MU, PT, MQCC).

• Manage daily test schedules and workflows within the lab

• Investigate and analyse quality, safety, and operational incidents

About you

• Previous working experience as a technician in a microbiology laboratory.

• Strong attention to detail and great problem-solving skills

• Ability to influence and provide training for team members’ development

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
