Shift schedule: 5/5/4 continuous shift work.

Pay Rate: $51.19

Laboratory Operator I

To safely and efficiently carry out the duties of Lab Operator I with minimum direction and supervision.

 

What you’ll do:

  •  
  • Post secondary education in a chemistry related field, preferably completed two years Industrial Laboratory Technologist Course from a recognized institution.
  • Preferably a minimum of one year related laboratory experience.
  • Understanding of refinery process sample terminology.
  • Working knowledge of at least one computer system (WINDOWS).
  • Understanding of basic instrumental methods of analysis including Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, Flame Photometry, pH meters, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, X-RAY Fluorescence, FTNIR etc.

What you’ll need:

 

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills while managing multiple demands.
  • Carry out all analysis/test procedures required for process control, shipping samples, environmental samples, mine samples, basic water analysis and other samples as required.
  • Use lab computer system to update and maintain daily analysis data files.
  • Operate analysis equipment and perform routine calibrations and adjustments.
  • Calibrate basic analysis equipment.
  • Prepare routine standard solutions.
  • Assist in adapting present lab procedures to fit new requirements as required.
  • Maintain all required laboratory statistics and records.
  • Understand and apply SDS information.
  • Recognize and identify discrepancies in analysis and procedures, and resolve these if appropriate.
  • Work day, afternoon and night shift as required or on a rotating basis.
  • Work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision in the Laboratory at K1 and K2.
  • Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.
  • Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.
