Position Summary: This position will aid in the design of on-trend, affordable housing in an exciting, fast-paced, team-oriented environment by working with architects, engineers, vendors, and home-building facilities nationwide. The Interior Designer I supports the development of floor plans, interior selections, décor packages, and design solutions that enhance the functionality, safety, and aesthetics of residential spaces while aligning with company standards and applicable building codes.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interior designers, architects, engineers, and home building facilities nationwide to support residential design and product development initiatives.
  • Develop and refine interior design concepts that enhance the functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of residential spaces while meeting company standards and applicable building codes.
  • Select and coordinate interior finishes, materials, color palettes, and product offerings, including flooring, carpet, paint, cabinetry, lighting, and other design elements.
  • Design and specify interior architectural details such as built-ins, crown molding, shelving, fireplaces, and other decorative features.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and construction documents to support the development of space plans, sketches, and design solutions.
  • Prepare drawings, design documents, and project plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other design tools as needed.
  • Assist with the selection of artwork, furnishings, accessories, and decorative elements, as well as project budgeting and cost estimation activities.
  • Research design trends, products, materials, and industry innovations to support product development and design recommendations.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with vendors and internal stakeholders throughout the design and development process.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 0-2 years of interior design or related experience, with a foundational understanding of architecture, residential construction, design principles, and applicable building and safety codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with vendors, clients, and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute effectively to design solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with CAD or other design software preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, some overnight stay may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.
