Interim Director of Nursing (DON)

Pay Range: $60.00–$61.00 per hour, based on experience

Hanford Post Acute is seeking an experienced and dedicated Interim Director of Nursing to provide strong clinical leadership and support our nursing team during a transitional period.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled nursing leader who can step into an established operation, build positive relationships, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure our residents continue receiving exceptional, compassionate care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Nursing Department.
  • Ensure residents receive high-quality care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, facility policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing supervisors, licensed nurses, CNAs, and other clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to support resident outcomes and facility goals.
  • Monitor nursing documentation, clinical systems, staffing levels, and quality indicators.
  • Ensure adequate nursing coverage and assist with staffing and scheduling needs.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and evaluating nursing employees.
  • Conduct clinical rounds and promptly address resident-care or employee-performance concerns.
  • Oversee infection prevention, quality assurance, risk management, and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor incidents, changes in condition, hospital transfers, wounds, falls, weights, and other areas of clinical risk.
  • Ensure care plans, assessments, and required documentation are accurate and completed on time.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and communicate professionally with residents and families.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and inspections.
  • Develop and implement plans of correction when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements governing skilled nursing facilities.
  • Promote a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and resident-centered care.
  • Protect resident privacy and maintain the confidentiality of all health information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Previous Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or senior nursing leadership experience required.
  • Skilled nursing or long-term-care experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations, survey readiness, care planning, infection prevention, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with PointClickCare or another electronic medical record system preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess priorities, make sound decisions, and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment.
