Job Summary

The Opportunity

Sitting within Telstra's Cyber Security Threat Research and Intelligence Group, this role offers the opportunity to contribute across a range of intelligence and security functions. You will work across teams including Threat Labs, OSINT and Cybercrime, and operational support. The role combines intelligence analysis, technical capability, research, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication to strengthen Telstra's information security posture and support effective security outcomes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Execute cyber security intelligence activities to identify threats across Telstra and its business units.

• Use specialised toolsets to gather, analyse, and evaluate information from professional threat feeds, internal systems, and publicly available sources.

• Collate and assess information to produce quality intelligence that supports the anticipation and prevention of potential threats.

• Conduct research and analysis across cybercrime, OSINT, technical security, and the current threat environment.

• Produce clear, accurate, and consistent intelligence reports and communications for operational, technical, and business audiences.

• Contribute to Threat Labs activities through the analysis of technical data and the application of knowledge across networks, platform configuration, and scripting.

• Support security operations with timely intelligence, research, technical analysis, and communications.

• Rapidly assess information security risks and develop a strong working knowledge of telecommunications and information security.

• Engage effectively with stakeholders across Telstra and communicate intelligence findings with clarity and influence.

• Identify and execute creative and effective solutions to analytical, technical, and operational issues.

• Work collaboratively across the broader Threat Research and Intelligence Group to support shared priorities and security outcomes.

• Contribute to the improvement of intelligence methods, processes, documentation, data sources, and tooling.

• Operate with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement when handling sensitive security information.

About You

You are an intelligence or cyber security professional with strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, sound technical skills, and the communication capability to engage effectively across a range of audiences.

You bring:

• Knowledge of the role cyber security intelligence plays in identifying and managing threats.

• Demonstrated analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to rapidly grasp information security risks within the current threat environment.

• Strong technical skills, including an understanding of networks, platform configuration, and scripting.

• Exceptional written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and with influence using a variety of media.

• Strong verbal communication and stakeholder-engagement skills across management, operational teams, vendors, and external organisations.

• The ability to gather, assess, and evaluate information from varied technical, commercial, internal, and publicly available sources.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and execute creative and effective solutions.

• The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams while taking ownership of assigned issues and deliverables.

• The ability to develop and apply strong working knowledge of telecommunications, information security, cybercrime, OSINT, and intelligence operations.

• High levels of professionalism, adaptability, integrity, and care when working with sensitive information.

Highly desirable:

• An understanding of information security within a telecommunications environment.

• Experience in intelligence analysis, cyber security research, technical security operations, or incident support.

• Experience using analytical, research, scripting, or security toolsets.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications, industry training, or certification.
