About this Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer - Media & Entertainment role at LMW
LMW, on behalf of its client, a leading company in the Productions & Entertainment industry, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer to join its team.
The successful candidate will provide specialized legal support across film, television and audiovisual productions, with a key focus on intellectual property, copyright, licensing and contractual matters. The role will work closely with production teams and business stakeholders to ensure the effective protection and commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights throughout the lifecycle of each production.
Key Responsibilities:
Intellectual Property & Production Agreements
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of production and intellectual property agreements, including contracts with producers, writers, directors, actors, creators, clients and other industry professionals.
- Review and advise on copyright, licensing, acquisition and exploitation rights across cinema, television and digital platforms.
- Ensure appropriate chain of title, rights clearance and documentation for productions and acquired content.
- Support the negotiation and structuring of agreements to ensure the Company's intellectual property and commercial interests are appropriately protected.
Legal Advisory & Risk Management
- Provide ongoing legal advice to production teams throughout the development, production and exploitation stages of audiovisual projects.
- Identify potential contractual, copyright and intellectual property risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Ensure contractual arrangements adequately safeguard the Company's rights and interests.
- Monitor legal and contractual matters relating to the use and exploitation of audiovisual content.
Stakeholder & Contract Management
- Liaise with external legal counsel, producers, business partners and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and well-organized production contracts, rights documentation and related legal records.
- Manage multiple agreements, negotiations and priorities simultaneously while meeting production and business deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law and qualification to practice law.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within the audiovisual, entertainment, media or production industry.
- Master's Degree or specialization in Intellectual Property Law would be considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of copyright, intellectual property and contract law.
- Proven experience in contract drafting, review and negotiation.
- Experience with licensing, content rights, rights clearance and/or audiovisual production agreements would be highly valued.
- Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken, including legal terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and sound legal judgement.
- Commercial and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to balance legal considerations with business requirements.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
