Job Description: Installation Design – Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Bangalore

Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for an Installation Design Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its world class team based out of Bangalore.  This individual should be a dynamic professional who is looking for a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies.

The Installation Design Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Design & construction phases of site development for the installation of Bloom Energy’s product.  This position will interface with a larger site design team: engineers, project managers, and construction supervisors.

This position will focus on eliminating technical barriers and representing a highly technical product or service related to the power industry.  The Installation Design Senior Mechanical Engineer must have a strong understanding of a broad set of engineering and construction solutions and able to manage the internal design and external customer process.

Job responsibilities include technical site analysis and conceptual design. Knowledge of construction, Mechanical design and applications is essential. Knowledge of Various process equipment’s design & installation methods adopted in industries is essential.

 

Location: This position is in Bangalore, India

 

Role and Responsibility:

  • Design site for installation of Bloomenergy Fuel cell system for generation of power or Hydrogen production fuel system.
  • Mechanical design and 3D model of piping, enclosures, cable trays.
  • Fabrication drawings of mechanical assemblies, enclosures.
  • Prepare 2D CAD drawings for the designed site, which includes Civil, Piping & Electrical drawings.
  • Communicate with customer to get all the information that is needed and also clarify any customer doubts.

Skills and Experience:

  • The Candidate should possess a Diploma or BE / Btech in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Minimum Experience: 4 Years’ experience (Diploma) / 3 years’ experience (BE / Btech) in Drafting / Design of mechanical structure, process piping is desirable. Experience criteria can be relaxed if a candidate is found to be suitable.
  • The candidate should be:
    • Comfortable in the usage of 2D Auto-CAD software independently. He / She possesses relevant skills with knowledge to read, understand and draft civil engineering / piping drawings.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD and in Solidworks.
    • Good in English communication (Verbal & written).
    • Having a good knowledge in usage of PDF, Image files as an Input for CAD drawings.
    • Having a good knowledge in CAD file storage and maintenance in server level - Highly recommended.
    • Comfortable and willing to work in a team.
    • Ready visit site / customer location in-person for inspection / training, as and when required.
    • Able to understand and review Vendor drawings, Inter-disciplinary item checking.
    • Able to understand relevant international standards of piping design work and should be able to work from concept engineering design/drawings to production design/drawings.
    • Able to support Mechanical Design using AutoCAD, consult with engineering, and site teammates to ensure that designs are feasible and deployable at site for hydrogen production system.
    • Candidates having worked on mechanical design for installing gas / water piping is desirable but not mandatory.
    • Comfortable working with different time zones and cross functional team.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Construction engineering support. This will include review of designs, submittals, and specifications for construction.  Coordinating construction RFI responses. 
  • Design requirements with other disciplines, submittal review, and construction support services.
  • Responsible for reviewing designs and custom equipment solutions.
  • Interface directly outside 3rd parties including but not limited to utilities, Permitting Authorities, 3rd party design firms, and customers to determine technical requirements for fuel cell installation at the customer site.
  • Ensure resulting construction drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring site design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
  • Responsible for developing the P&ID per the process requirements.
  • Responsible for design & develop the piping networks per the P&ID.
  • Responsible for performing design calculations & analysis.
  • Preparing the conceptual designs & performing design validations.
  • Working closely with Product development team to get the implementation of site designs.
  • Reviewing of third-party equipment drawings (Ex: Compressors, Chillers, Heat Exchangers etc.)
  • Knowledge of Various process equipment’s design & installation methods adopted.
  • Responsible for preparing the purchase technical specifications for various Equipment’s
  • Contribution to the continual design process improvements.
  • Active participation in meetings & providing inputs / feedbacks.
  • Professional & collaborative – comfortable working closely with a team.
  • Proactive and persistent with well-developed analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to drive complex tasks to closure.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Work efficiently and effectively with multiple project and priorities.
