This Position reports to:

Production Engineering Manager

Your role
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for factory‑level layout planning, internal material flow optimization, capacity modelling, and standard time system development. This role drives lean transformation across the entire production ecosystem – optimizing spatial utilization, streamlining logistics routes, reducing non‑value‑added movements, and enabling data‑driven decision‑making for facility planning. The engineer collaborates with production, logistics, and facility teams to design efficient workflows, ensuring the factory good at safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

The work model for the role is: onsite

You will be mainly accountable for

• Lead factory layout planning and optimization, including shop‑floor zoning, workstation placement, aisle design, and utility routing, to maximize space utilization and operational flexibility.
• Design and continuously improve internal material flow systems – including supermarket sizing, milk‑run routes, conveyance methods (AGV, conveyor, forklift), and inbound/outbound logistics – to minimize transportation waste and inventory holding.
• Lead value‑stream mapping (VSM) and kaizen events to eliminate waste (Muda) and drive continuous improvement in productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with product engineering and production teams to assess new product introductions (NPI) and design optimal manufacturing processes from a layout and logistics perspective.
• Develop and maintain factory digital models (factory simulation) to support scenario planning, investment decisions, and capacity ramp‑up strategies.
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as floor space utilization, material handling cost per unit, distance travelled per part, and labor productivity.
• Support 6S and safety initiatives by designing ergonomic workstations and ensuring compliant material flow paths.
• Participate in factory digitalization projects to integrate real‑time location systems and warehouse management systems (WMS) with production information flow.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• 3 years of solid experience in factory layout design, material flow optimization, and capacity planning within a manufacturing environment (preferably in assembly or robotics industries).
• Proficiency in simulation and layout tools such as AutoCAD, Plant Simulation, FlexSim, or Arena.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing tools – VSM, standardized work, kanban, pull systems, and TPM.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment (AGV, conveyor, lift tables) and warehouse design principles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; comfortable working with large datasets (Excel, Power BI, SQL).
• Genuine interest in engineering with a curious and inquisitive mindset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; fluent in spoken and written English.
