This position will report to Nash Plumbing and Mechanical, LLC, a subsidiary of HB Global.

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our team. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, be comfortable troubleshooting equipment independently, and have experience working in occupied commercial facilities. We are looking for someone who can identify problems, determine the proper corrective action, communicate findings clearly, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and service commercial pumps, including circulating and hydronic pumps.
  • Troubleshoot and work with Variable Frequency Drives, including basic programming, alarms, and operational issues.
  • Service and troubleshoot commercial boilers and associated hydronic systems.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair split-system HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair mini-split and multi-zone systems.
  • Perform refrigerant system troubleshooting, including checking pressures, temperatures, superheat, subcooling, and system operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components such as motors, contactors, relays, capacitors, transformers, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Read and interpret equipment wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Identify failed components and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, facility personnel, and other trades.
  • Follow company and jobsite safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of commercial HVAC experience preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required.
  • Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting pumps, VFDs, boilers, split systems, and mini-splits.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to use standard HVAC diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, gauges, temperature probes, and other service tools.

  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and properly prioritize assigned work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with commercial HVAC work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls is a plus.
  • Familiarity with control sequences, sensors, actuators, thermostats, VFD control, and basic BAS troubleshooting.
  • Hydronic heating and cooling system experience.
  • Commercial boiler and pump troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in hospitals, healthcare facilities, large commercial buildings, schools, or similar facilities is a plus.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a technician who is more than a parts changer. The successful candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting a system from the initial complaint through the root cause, understanding how the mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control components work together.

The technician should take ownership of assigned work, communicate issues clearly, maintain a professional presence on customer jobsites, and provide reliable recommendations for repairs and preventative maintenance.
