ROLE: HVAC Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HVAC Technician works primarily in a residential setting. Our technicians work primarily in existing buildings doing maintenance, installation, service, repair, replacement, and fit-out work. They work with, and oversee work with, numerous system parts and mechanisms. They work with Customers, Dispatchers, Interoffice personnel, Management, and other Technicians to build a high level of teamwork and morale. This is a critical role that requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service to our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, service, and/or repair HVAC Systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and other related equipment
  • Inspect and assess HVAC systems for performance issues, identifying problems and providing recommendations for repairs or replacements
  • Act as a trusted advisor to recommend appropriate upgrades.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, using specialized tools and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning coils, replacing filters, and checking refrigerant levels
  • Install and repair ductwork, as needed, to ensure proper airflow and ventilation
  • Test HVAC systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently
  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions, and explaining repairs or maintenance recommendations to customers
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including time spent, materials used, and any issues encountered
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times to ensure a safe working environment
  • Perform work within OSHA guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development
  • Promote and follow building, job site and department procedures and policies
  • Abide by the Home Service Team guidelines as set forth in the Company Handbook
  • Maintain clean organized and mechanically sound company provided service vehicle
  • Obey Department Uniform and Appearance Policy
  • Comply with NFPA 70E regulations
  • Operate a company vehicle to run service or installation jobs for customer needs
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D.
  • Operating knowledge of HVAC system
  • Equivalent technical school or work experience
  • Five or more years of experience in related trade
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required
  • EPA Certification preferred but not necessary.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in area of all certifications

SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Perform math computations needed in the trade
  • Knowledge of trade related tools needed for job applying
  • Operating knowledge and working proficiency with hand-held computer (i.e. smartphone, tablet).
  • Must provide all own hand tools

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift equipment, tools, products, and supplies, up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
