This role is an opportunity to combine hands-on HVAC knowledge with practical leadership, daily planning and cross-functional coordination in an industrial environment.

About the role

You will supervise a small crew of HVAC/facilities maintenance mechanics and coordinate the safe, efficient execution of preventive maintenance, service calls and emergency work. You will plan and schedule the team’s daily activities, support troubleshooting and repairs, and partner with production, maintenance, planning, engineering and other support groups. The position is primarily day shift, Monday through Friday, with overtime, early starts, extended hours or scheduled off-hours work as operating needs require.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the daily start-up of the crew, assign work and set priorities for preventive maintenance, planned work and service calls across the plant.
• Coordinate the inspection, troubleshooting, service and repair of heating and air-conditioning equipment serving production shops, maintenance areas, break rooms, lunchrooms and offices, including steam, gas and electric heating systems.
• Provide technical direction during equipment failures and emergencies, collect relevant information for further analysis and ensure urgent work receives timely attention.
• Lead safety pre-job reviews, observe work in progress and reinforce safe, inclusive and collaborative work practices in an industrial environment.
• Plan and document work through the site’s maintenance management processes, including accurate work-execution reporting and effective use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain close coordination with production, maintenance planners, engineers, support groups and other supervisors to sequence work, minimize disruption and improve the quality and efficiency of maintenance execution.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated HVAC maintenance experience, with the ability to troubleshoot and support repair of commercial or industrial heating and cooling equipment. Candidates with strong electrical or mechanical backgrounds and meaningful HVAC experience will also be considered.
• Maintenance or facilities leadership experience, including the ability to organize work, prioritize changing service needs and guide a small skilled-trades team.
• Experience working safely in an industrial or similarly complex operating environment, with the ability to lead pre-job reviews and respond appropriately to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Working knowledge of CMMS tools and general computer applications, including Microsoft Office, to schedule, coordinate and document work.
• Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and adapt to overtime or off-shift needs when required.

Preferred qualifications

• Welding and brazing experience.
• Experience supervising employees in a union environment.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs and hydraulic or pneumatic circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes and standards.
