This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position.  All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary position is located in 3512 Bush Street - Wake County.   This position is assigned to the Department of Adult Correction - Comprehensive Health.

 
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $29.11 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  
 
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.  

Management Preferences:  

  • Current and continous offender knowledge of State and Federal Medicaid Policy and Law.
  • Detailed working knowledge and understanding of the laws, policies and regulations for offenders in the NCDAC/DOP regarding Medicaid.
  • Strong knowledge base of medical and mental conditions and the elements necessary to meet the federally mandated definition of disability.
  • Advanced level of understanding and knowledge of the disability determination process for NC Medicaid as a familiarity with the structure and function of the NCDAC/DOP.
  • At least two years of medical experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial, socioeconomic, behavioral problems and their treatment.
  • Skill in establishing and applying techniques to assess psychosocial, behavioral and psychological aspects of offender's problems.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative chain of command, members of caseload and their families, and with civic, medical, social and religious organizations.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely to plan and execute work load.

Master's degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
