Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the HRSG Inspector is to conduct, document, and report detailed inspections of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) with the goal of diagnosing equipment condition, identifying current and emerging issues, and supporting customers’ long-term asset planning. Inspectors are expected to provide practical, helpful recommendations that assist customers in prioritizing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and future outage planning. In addition to inspection activities, inspectors may support customer relationships and business development by identifying opportunities for solutions, parts, engineering studies, retrofits, and related services. During non-peak outage seasons, inspectors may also assist with business development activities, 3D scanning, proposal preparation, invoicing, parts support, and other HRSG Services needs as directed.

Essential Functions

• Use, maintain, and document inspection equipment, including digital cameras, ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment, gas detectors, thermal imaging devices, videoscopes, and other tools required to safely assess HRSG condition.

• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of HRSG design, operation, maintenance practices, and common failure mechanisms.

• Perform detailed inspections of HRSG equipment to identify existing issues, degradation mechanisms, reliability concerns, and operational risks.

• Prepare for inspections by reviewing plant operating history, design drawings, technical documentation, customer concerns, and prior inspection reports.

• Document inspection findings using company reporting standards and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports that identify equipment condition, observations, risk areas, and recommended actions.

• Prepare inspection punch lists and communicate critical findings to customers and internal stakeholders.

• Provide customers with practical recommendations regarding maintenance planning, repairs, upgrades, and long-term asset management.

• Identify opportunities for aftermarket parts, engineering studies, retrofits, and other solutions that address inspection findings and improve equipment reliability.

• Represent the company in a professional, customer-focused manner before, during, and after field assignments.

• Maintain flexibility to support inspections on short notice, particularly during spring and fall outage seasons.

• During non-peak periods, support business development activities, 3D scanning services, proposal preparation, invoicing, parts support, spare parts inventory management, order tracking, warranty support, engineering studies, retrofit proposals, and other aftermarket service initiatives as assigned.

Travel Requirements

• Extensive travel is required, including up to 75% or more during peak spring and fall outage seasons.

• Weekend travel and extended work schedules may be required based on customer outage schedules and project demands.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:

• Enter confined spaces through openings as small as 12" x 16", including boiler drums and other HRSG components.

• Work in confined spaces for extended periods.

• Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and other access structures.

• Work at heights of up to approximately 100 feet while using required fall protection equipment.

• Walk, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl throughout industrial facilities.

• Carry and operate inspection equipment, including videoscopes and related tools, throughout the HRSG and associated plant areas.

• Work in industrial power generation environments with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and other site conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent technical training and experience in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Power Generation Technology, or a related field preferred.

• 5+ years experience with HRSGs, boilers, pressure vessels, power generation equipment, or similar industrial systems preferred.

• Prior inspection, maintenance, outage, field service, or reliability experience in power generation or heavy industrial environments is highly desirable.

• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, reports, and operating documentation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and standard business software.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Valid passport, or ability to obtain one, required.

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we include base pay ranges for all US-based job postings that encompass all potential locations and levels for the open position.  Our base pay ranges are set based on the function, discipline, level, and regional location and are benchmarked against companies in the same or similar industry.  Final offers may vary based on multiple factors, including education, depth and relevance of work experience, relevant licenses and certifications, and may vary from the amounts listed in the job posting.

The base pay range for this HRSG Inspector role is $95,000-110,000
