New Day Admin · Onsite · Springfield, Missouri, United States

Title: HRIS Manager

Location: Springfield, MO (Onsite)

About Us

We are a rapidly growing, mission‑driven Medicare and Medicaid home health and hospice organization operating in multiple states with over 8,000 employees. Our workforce includes caregivers, clinicians, administrative teams, and remote workers nationwide. With seven interconnected EMR platforms feeding data into UKG, our payroll environment is highly dynamic, compliance‑heavy, and central to supporting quality patient care.

Position Summary

The HRIS Manager serves as the primary functional owner and subject matter expert for the organization’s HRIS and related workforce technology. This role is responsible for the administration, configuration, optimization, data integrity, integrations, reporting, security, and strategic use of HR systems across a complex, multi-state healthcare organization.

This is a highly hands-on role requiring the ability to move between strategic system planning and detailed system administration and troubleshooting. The HRIS Manager is expected to understand how the various components of the HR technology environment work together, identify root causes when issues arise, and take ownership of driving issues through resolution.

The HRIS Manager partners closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, Operations, IT, leadership, and external vendors to ensure systems and processes effectively support the needs of the organization.

The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and strong problem solver who is comfortable challenging existing processes, advocating for sound system practices, and leading system improvements, implementations, acquisitions, conversions, and process automation.

Key Responsibilities

·    Serve as the primary functional owner and subject matter expert for the organization’s HRIS, workforce management, payroll-related, and other workforce technology systems.

·    Manage and optimize HRIS configuration, including organizational structures, business rules, workflows, security roles, pay and time configurations, and other system settings.

·    Maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee, organizational, compensation, payroll, benefits, and workforce data.

·    Establish and maintain HRIS data governance standards to promote consistent organizational structures, data definitions, configuration practices, and system controls across entities.

·    Partner with Payroll and Benefits to ensure accurate system configuration, processing, company and payroll tax setup, and data flow.

·    Manage and troubleshoot system integrations, interfaces, imports, exports, APIs, SFTP processes, and other data exchanges.

·    Lead or support HRIS implementations, system upgrades, acquisitions, conversions, entity additions, and other HR technology projects.

·    Develop and maintain HR reports, dashboards, workforce analytics, audits, and other reporting solutions to support operational and leadership needs.

·    Troubleshoot complex system and data issues, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution with internal teams and external vendors.

·    Manage system security, user access, roles, permissions, and data confidentiality.

·    Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and streamline HR and payroll-related processes.

·    Evaluate business requests and proposed system changes to determine the most effective and sustainable solution rather than simply implementing the requested change.

·    Develop and maintain HRIS procedures, documentation, system standards, and training materials.

·    Provide training, guidance, and support to HRIS users and other stakeholders.

·    Ensure HRIS processes and configurations support applicable federal and state requirements and organizational policies.

·    Provide HRIS expertise and consultation to HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, Operations, IT, and leadership.

·    Effectively manage issues and escalations with UKG and other technology vendors and ensure issues are actively pursued through resolution.

·    Continually evaluate system capabilities and recommend opportunities to improve functionality, efficiency, data quality, and the user experience.

Requirements

·    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field preferred.

·    5+ years of progressive HRIS, HR technology, payroll systems, or related experience.

·    Significant hands-on experience administering and configuring a major enterprise HRIS platform.

·    Hands-on UKG Pro experience strongly preferred; experience with UKG Workforce Management highly desirable. Candidates with significant hands-on administration experience in another enterprise HRIS may also be considered.

·    Experience with payroll, benefits, workforce management, organizational structures, security, reporting, and system integrations.

·    Experience troubleshooting complex system and data issues and working directly with vendors through resolution.

·    Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

·    Ability to understand how changes in one area of an HRIS environment may affect downstream systems, integrations, payroll, reporting, and business processes.

·    Ability to confidently advocate for sound system practices and solutions, even when recommendations challenge established processes or competing departmental priorities.

·    Comfortable navigating disagreement between departments and individuals while maintaining productive working relationships and advocating for the best overall system and organizational solution.

·    Strong communicator who can effectively work with technical and non-technical audiences and with employees at varying levels of the organization.

·    Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing business needs and urgent system issues.

·    Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of issues, and follow them through to resolution.

·    Experience in healthcare, home health, hospice, mergers and acquisitions, or a complex multi-state organization preferred.

·    Stable work history.
