Job Description:

Position Title:                    HGV Driver

Reporting To:                     Dispatch Co-ordinator

Location:                            Ballymoney

Hours of work:                   39 Hours, Mon - Thurs

Reporting to the Dispatch Co-ordinator at the Ballymoney site, the successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle driving, both lorries and forklift trucks, delivering goods to Terex facilities & customers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loading and Unloading of vehicles so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage

  • Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively

  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.

  • Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.

  • Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.

  • Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.

  • Operation of all forklift trucks and delivery of materials safely throughout the site.

  • To operate the crane (if applicable) safely and in accordance with the correct procedures

  • Comply with fuel directives.

  • Ensure any accidents or damage to Company or third party property is actioned in accordance with company procedures.

  • Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet

  • Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the Departments attention if necessary.

  • Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role.

  • To provide support in the Yard as and when required and any other reasonable duty.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include Health and Safety Policy.

Qualifications & Experience: 

Essential

  • HGV Class 1 Driving License.

  • Mathematics & English GCSE - Grade C or above or relevant qualification.

  • Must possess an up to date Driver qualification Card (CPC Card).

  • Have at least 2 years driving experience.

  • Have experience transporting heavy plant and machinery and multi-drop deliveries.

  • The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, be able to use own initiative and work as part of a team.

  • They will be able to take on new challenges and will be keen to learn new skills and responsibilities in all aspects of the business.

  • Candidates should be aware that this role will entail heavy Manual Labour.

  • Must be reliable and have a good timekeeping and attendance record. Must be flexible and available to work overtime as and when required, this may include alternative shift work. 

Desirable

  • CSR Card or other relevant health & safety qualification.

  •  Have at least 2 years fork lift truck driving experience.
