We are hiring multiple Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Integrated Mining Team (IMT). In this role you will perform troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar general line, power systems and mining equipment throughout BC and the Yukon.

Job Description:

Take on a role where your skills and passion keep the heavy iron moving. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with IMT, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment.

Your work will include: 

  • Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment

  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.

  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required

  • Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication 

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification

  • Red Seal Off Road certificate required

  • Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract

  • 3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field, mining operations is an asset

  • Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems

  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial

  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience

  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Details:

  • This position is based on a 14x14 continuous shift rotation

  • Up to $1,000 / rotation travel allowance to get to marshalling point (tax free)

  • A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable

Union Membership: This is a unionized position.  Union dues will be deducted from your pay upon hire.  Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
