Scope of the Job

At Soho House, the Health Club Manager is dedicated to delivering an exceptional health, wellness and fitness experience for members. The Health Club Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the Health Club and is responsible for ensuring all fitness, wellness, recovery and related spaces operate safely, efficiently and in line with Soho House standards.

Depending on the location, the Health Club may include a gym, fitness studio, personal training, group classes, spa or treatment rooms, recovery services, changing rooms, sauna and other wellness amenities.

A successful Health Club Manager is an energetic, hands-on and hospitality-focused leader who creates a seamless member experience across the Health Club while driving strong team performance, operational standards, member engagement and commercial results.

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Health Club, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, safety, maintenance and presentation across all fitness, wellness and recovery areas.
• Serve as an influential health and wellness leader responsible for delivering and overseeing high-quality fitness programming, personal training, classes, member inductions, wellness services and member events.
• Oversee team management including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, payroll, performance management and disciplinary procedures, while partnering with leadership on employee development and succession planning.
• Maintain a visible and hands-on leadership presence, ensuring the Health Club team consistently delivers a personalized, engaging and hospitality-led member experience.
• Monitor and analyze utilization, class attendance, personal training, treatments, recovery services and other Health Club offerings to identify opportunities to improve quality, member engagement and commercial performance.
• Partner with the General Manager and local and regional leadership to develop, manage and report on departmental budgets, payroll, expenses, revenue and overall performance against established targets.
• Collaborate with Membership, Marketing, Events, Food & Beverage and other House teams to promote Health Club services, programming, events and wellness initiatives that increase member participation and awareness.
• Prepare and maintain accurate operational records and reporting, including member utilization, scheduling, programming, revenue, payroll, inventory and other applicable Health Club performance measures.
• Manage vendor relationships, purchasing, supplies and procurement activities and work with equipment manufacturers and service providers to ensure all fitness, wellness and recovery equipment is maintained in excellent working condition and meets Soho House safety and operational standards.
• Ensure regular equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs and servicing are completed in a timely manner.
• Oversee spa, treatment, recovery and specialist wellness services where applicable, ensuring services are delivered safely, consistently and in accordance with Soho House standards and applicable requirements.
• Ensure team members operating specialist equipment or providing regulated services maintain all required training, licenses or certifications.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, opening and closing procedures, service standards, emergency protocols and Health Club training materials.
• Support new Health Club services, renovations, refurbishments, openings or operational changes as required, including operational planning, team training, equipment setup and launch readiness.
• Monitor member feedback and continually evolve programming, services and the overall Health Club experience based on member needs and business performance.
• Build strong relationships with members and create a Health Club environment that is personal, social and distinctly Soho House.
• Adhere to all applicable health and safety policies, workers’ compensation procedures, emergency procedures and Company standards, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 5-7+ years’ experience in a management role within fitness, health and wellness, spa, premium hospitality or a related environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing day-to-day operations in a high-quality member or guest-facing environment.
• Strong knowledge of fitness operations, personal training, class programming and member engagement.
• Experience with spa, treatment, recovery or wellness services is preferred where applicable to the location.
• Experience managing budgets, payroll, expenses, revenue targets and departmental performance.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety, risk management and operational compliance.
• Trainer certification such as ACSM, NSCA, NASM, CFSC, CSCS, ACE or equivalent is preferred.
• Personal Training and First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred and may be required depending on the responsibilities of the role and location.
• Strong communication, leadership and people-management skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with members, employees, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Flexible schedule and ability to work nights, weekends and holidays when applicable.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and operate effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in sport science, business administration, hospitality management or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
• Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
• Fast-paced movements may be required to move throughout the Health Club and House.
• Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 40 pounds.
• Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
