Job Summary & Core Responsibilities
The Head of Operations partners with Workstation R&D leaders and leadership team to run the business operations of a global organization developing workstations. The role translates strategy into operating plans, aligns resources to product priorities, and helps drive execution across engineering teams and business partners. Primary responsibilities include budgeting, team organization, cross-functional initiatives, and cross-team communication.
· Budgeting: Lead annual and on-going budget planning, quarterly forecasts, and monthly spend reviews with Finance and team leaders. Consolidate headcount, contractor, laboratory, prototype, tooling, and development investment needs into a coordinated financial plan.
· Track actual spending against plan, explain variances, and recommend corrective actions. Develop resource and investment scenarios that help leadership balance product commitments, engineering capacity, and cost targets.
· Team organization: Maintain an integrated view of team structure, staffing, skills, and capacity across global sites. Partner with leaders and HR to plan hiring, onboarding, and organizational changes aligned with workstation development priorities.
· Establish the operating cadence for leadership reviews and resource planning. Clarify responsibilities, decision ownership, and team interfaces; track commitments and resolve gaps or overlaps in accountability.
· Cross-functional initiatives: Lead initiatives spanning hardware, firmware, software, validation, program management, and partners in Product Management, Supply Chain, and Quality. Define outcomes, milestones, owners, dependencies, and measures of success.
· Drive initiatives through completion by coordinating work, removing barriers, and escalating decisions with clear options and recommendations. Support improvements in development efficiency, product readiness, and execution across programs.
· Cross-team communication: Lead communication across teams, sites, and time zones through staff meetings, leadership updates, all-hands meetings, and written briefings. Translate priorities and decisions into clear messages tailored to technical and executive audiences.
· Create reliable channels for feedback and issue escalation. Maintain shared records of decisions, risks, and actions so teams understand what has changed, who is accountable, and when follow-through is required.
