Job Scope:
Head of Business Development, Discovery will lead the growth of our Discovery business in the U.S. market. This role will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for ProBio’s Discovery services, leading a team of Business Development professionals, building strategic customer relationships, and driving sustainable revenue and pipeline growth.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business development strategies for ProBio’s Discovery services.
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of 2–3 Business Development professionals.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with academic, biotech and pharmaceutical customers, to meet company’s strategies goal
- Build and manage strategic/key accounts and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers for sustainable business growth.
- Drive opportunities from initial engagement through proposal, negotiation, and project award.
- Collaborate with Scientific, Technical, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to develop customer solutions.
- Identify opportunities to expand Discovery customers into downstream development and CDMO services.
- Manage team pipeline, forecasting, and business performance. Deliver team’s pipeline updates to department head and cross-functional leaders.
- Represent ProBio at customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life-science discipline; Ph.D., M.S., MBA, or other advanced degree preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive business development, sales, or commercial experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical services, CRO, or CDMO organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in Discovery and/or early-stage drug development services, preferably within biologics.
- Previous people management or team leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach and develop commercial talent.
- Proven track record of developing new customers, building qualified pipelines, managing strategic accounts, and closing complex scientific service opportunities.
- Strong understanding of the drug discovery and development lifecycle and the outsourcing needs of biotech and pharmaceutical customers.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
