What’s the role

Shell is seeking for Global Account Manager to join its team in San Diego, California.

The Global Account Manager (GAM) will be Global Key Account team’s presence in Shell’s San Diego offices and will lead the co-ordination of West coast headquartered key accounts and act as the focal across other key accounts for opportunities in the West of the USA.

The Shell Energy Global Key Accounts organization is responsible for the management of the relationships with the most strategic global accounts across Shell Energy. These accounts present some of the largest opportunities to deliver more value with less emissions for Shell Energy in our key markets. Helping customers in various segments such as Data Centers, Telecoms, Steel, and Cement meet their energy needs. The majority of these needs sit within gas and power, but a number of these accounts have significant interaction with the wider Shell portfolio both as a customer and as a supplier. The Global Key Accounts organization co-ordinates these relationships and account strategy Shell wide so as to present a united, one Shell plan and approach.

Accountabilities:

  • Partner closely with local Shell Energy Origination and B2B teams in San Diego, serving as the key link to support regional growth across Global Key Accounts and relevant business development activities

  • Responsible for the global account management of their respective customers & acting as the West focal point for opportunities across all other global key accounts.

  • Responsible for developing, nurturing and growing the relationships with their key accounts and through this relationship strategy identifying new opportunities

  • For their accounts coordinate activities with the various deals team working on opportunities globally.  Responsible for ensuring one aligned customer strategy for Shell to these multi-national companies

  • Working with the local origination teams they will identify potential new  accounts and support development of the relationships and new business opportunities for these accounts

  • Responsible for developing, nurturing and growing the relationships with their customers and through this relationship strategy identifying new opportunities or supporting the existing business Shell has

  • Coordinate activities of the various deals team working on these opportunities globally.  They are responsible for ensuring one aligned customer strategy for Shell to these multi-national companies

  • Work with all Shell businesses across multiple lines and geographies to ensure a cohesive account strategy that leverages Shell’s unique global footprint and broad portfolio of products. 

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years of key account management experience, preferably within the gas and power sector, with a proven track record of coordinating account strategies

  • In-depth understanding of and experience in the US Energy markets, preferably a wider understanding of other typical oil and gas downstream businesses would be beneficial.

  • Strong track record of managing complex stakeholders and relationships with senior external stakeholders

  • Solid Evidence of key accounts strategy creation, execution and value delivery with complex elements and variables that challenged decision making preferably across different regions

  • Excellent internal & external stakeholder management skills and demonstrated ability to influence at all levels with and without formal authority

  • Creativity and organization are differentials for this role, with out-of-the-box ideas and discipline to execute the activities that will generate Shell's value differential.

  • Must be willing to travel approximately 10-20% of the time based on business needs

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $149,000 - $223,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.  For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.  Additional information on Shell’s US benefit programs can be found at https://www.shell.us/careers/about-careers-at-shell/rewards-and-benefits.html.
