About this Glencore – 2027 Industrial Placement Programme – Quantitative Research (Analytics) role at Glencore UK
Who we are
Glencore is one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Through a network of assets, customers and suppliers that spans the globe, we produce, process, recycle, source, market and distribute the commodities that advance everyday life.
With over 140,000 employees and contractors and a strong footprint in over 30 countries in both established and emerging regions for natural resources, our marketing and industrial activities are supported by a global network of offices.
The Quantitative Research Placement
Our trading analysts work directly with our traders to evaluate fundamental global market supply and demand using mathematical and programming techniques. They work closely with traders, shipping, and IT, developing tools in order to deliver value to the business.
Forecasting market trends and strategic global thinking are important skills in this role – a good analyst will proactively form an independent view of the market and present clear and concise data to support this opinion. Working alongside the team, the data-driven insights you develop will be used to add value and inspire commercial strategy within the trading teams.
Key requirements:
- A keen interest in the Finance, Energy, or Oil industries.
- Strong numerical skills and a highly analytical mindset.
- Experience in a programming language, such as Python, strongly preferred.
- Experience with data analysis, data visualisation or machine learning preferred
