We take that responsibility seriously. With a 200-year legacy and a shared passion for what’s next, this is the right place to build a fulfilling career.

  • Assess the impact of major market events, including currency shocks, central bank actions, geopolitical events, and changes in market liquidity
  • Oversee the preparation of risk reporting and analysis, including ad hoc analysis, and ensure its appropriateness for executive oversight bodies
  • Provide technical expertise to develop increasingly efficient approaches to daily risk oversight for BBH’s FX business
  • Serve as a senior point of contact between the FX department and Treasury, Credit Risk, Operations, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Model Risk
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance P&L analytical tools
  • Help determine appropriate actions to resolve risk events, such as market exposures, arising within FX or other areas of BBH’s Markets division
  • Assess risks associated with new FX products and services

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline; advanced degree or professional qualification desirable
  • 10–15+ years of relevant experience in financial markets, market risk, trading, quantitative risk, or a closely related discipline
  • Experience in a front office risk or control function within the financial services industry

Knowledge and Skills (general and technical)

  • Experience managing risk during periods of significant market stress
  • Familiarity with quantitative risk measurement methodologies, e.g. VaR
  • Experience coding and building prototype risk models and reports using Python, R, SQL, or similar tools, or overseeing such efforts
  • Ability to explain complex quantitative risk concepts clearly to senior executives and non-specialists
  • Demonstrated leadership and influence, identify risks, develop solutions, align cross-functional teams, and drive complex initiatives through completion
  • Ability to balance business needs with risk considerations, provide independent challenge, and clearly articulate issues to senior stakeholders and oversight committees
  • Deep understanding of FX markets, trading strategies, risk measurement methodologies, and the regulatory environment applicable to a US banking organization with a global client base
  • Experience with BI tools, such as Qlik, Spotfire, or Sisense, is beneficial
