The Role

We're seeking experienced and passionate Stage Operators to join our Crown Live Theatre team.

Reporting to the Production & Technical Manager, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering staging, mechanist and fly operations across Crown Melbourne's theatre and entertainment venues. Working alongside world-class productions and events, you'll lead staging operations, support production planning and ensure the highest standards of safety, technical delivery and operational excellence.

In this role, you will:

• Lead staging, mechanist and fly operations across theatre productions, rehearsals, performances and live events.
• Act as the primary point of contact for staging and fly system requirements.
• Perform key technical show functions including Mechanist, Flyperson and Duty Technician duties.
• Oversee the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of stage machinery, fly systems and staging infrastructure.
• Lead and develop casual crew and contractors while fostering a positive and safety-focused team culture.
• Support rostering, crew allocation and operational planning activities.
• Ensure staging documentation, production requirements and operating procedures are delivered accurately and compliantly.
• Ensure all activities are delivered safely and to the highest technical standards.

You'll bring:

• Extensive experience in staging, mechanist or fly system operations within theatre, live entertainment or event environments.
• Demonstrated experience performing Mechanist, Flyperson or Duty Technician responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of stage machinery, fly systems, rigging practices and staging operations.
• Experience leading technical teams, casual crew or contractors.
• Strong troubleshooting, organisational and problem-solving capability.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, staging documentation and production specifications.

Desirable Qualifications & Licences

• Working at Heights Licence.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.
• Forklift Licence.
• Test and Tag Qualification.
• Manual Driver's Licence.
• Intermediate or Advanced Dogging or Rigging Certification
• Experience operating manual fly systems.
