Front Office Coordinator – Periodontal Practice
Location: Smile Central Park | Manhattan, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Pay: $25–$32/hour, based on experience
Practice: Periodontal / Specialty Dental Practice
Insurance: PPO & Fee-for-Service (FFS)
Smile Central Park is seeking an experienced Dental Front Office Coordinator with periodontal scheduling experience to join our established Manhattan practice.
Because periodontal care is a significant part of our practice, we are specifically looking for someone who understands the workflow of a periodontal office and can confidently manage periodontal scheduling, treatment sequencing, maintenance and recall, and patient coordination. Previous dental front-office experience with direct periodontal scheduling experience is required.
This is not an Office Manager position. Our practice has established management in place. This role is focused on being a knowledgeable, dependable point of contact for our patients while keeping the front-office and periodontal scheduling workflow organized and moving.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact for patients from their first call through ongoing treatment
- Manage periodontal scheduling, including treatment sequencing, periodontal maintenance, recall/recare, and follow-up appointments
- Maintain a productive periodontal schedule by proactively filling openings and following up with patients who need treatment
- Coordinate appointments based on provider recommendations, treatment needs, and appropriate timing of care
- Manage general scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and schedule changes
- Review treatment plans with patients and clearly communicate next steps
- Help patients understand insurance benefits, financial expectations, and scheduling
- Verify insurance information and maintain accurate patient records
- Collect patient payments and assist with financial arrangements as appropriate
- Manage incoming calls, messages, and patient follow-up
- Work closely with the Office Manager, periodontists, hygienists, and clinical team to provide a smooth patient experience
What We’re Looking For
Dental front-office experience and hands-on periodontal scheduling experience are required for this position.
Candidates should already be comfortable with the terminology, scheduling considerations, and patient coordination involved in periodontal care. We are looking for someone who can step into this environment with an existing understanding of perio scheduling and treatment flow, rather than someone learning periodontal scheduling for the first time.
Our ideal candidate brings:
- Previous experience working in a dental front office
- Direct experience scheduling periodontal treatment
- Understanding of periodontal maintenance, recall/recare, and treatment sequencing
- Strong patient communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience discussing treatment plans and helping patients understand their next steps
- Familiarity with dental insurance verification and benefits
- Strong scheduling, organization, and follow-through
- A proactive approach to maintaining a productive schedule and filling openings
- Ability to collaborate effectively with an existing Office Manager and clinical team
What Success Looks Like
You become a trusted and familiar resource for our patients while keeping the periodontal schedule organized, productive, and moving forward. You understand how periodontal treatment flows, proactively follow up with patients, and make sure recommended care doesn't fall through the cracks.
If you have strong dental front-office experience and already understand the unique scheduling needs of a periodontal practice, we'd like to hear from you.
