Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The French Teacher at Smart Vision School is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive lessons that foster academic, social, and emotional development. The teacher will create a positive and nurturing classroom environment, adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners, and encourage curiosity and a love of learning.

This role aligns with both the UK Teachers’ Standards and the KHDA Education Inspection Framework, ensuring excellence in teaching, safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion, and student achievement. The teacher will also maintain effective communication with parents and colleagues and contribute to the broader SVS community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver effective, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all students.

  • Use excellent subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and interpersonal abilities to inspire and motivate students.

  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies, including ICT and other new technologies, to enhance learning.

  • Adapt lessons to cater for Students of Determination, ELL learners, and students with diverse abilities.

  • Encourage students to become independent, confident, and lifelong learners.

  • Model best practice in academic integrity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Assessment, Recording, and Reporting

  • Assess and record student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to guide improvement.

  • Help students set and monitor targets to improve on their previous achievements.

  • Provide oral and written reports, references, and feedback for individual students or groups.

  • Maintain accurate records of personal, social, and academic development.

Pastoral and Behaviour Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain clear, consistent expectations for behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Promote respect, empathy, and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.

  • Take proactive measures to safeguard students from abuse, bullying, or discriminatory behaviour.

  • Support students’ emotional wellbeing and personal development through guidance and mentoring.

Curriculum Development

  • Plan and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the British National Curriculum.

  • Contribute to the development of teaching materials, schemes of work, and assessment methods.

  • Embed UAE heritage, culture, and values within the curriculum.

  • Take responsibility for specific subjects and co-operate with colleagues to maintain high-quality provision.

Professional Development and Contribution

  • Engage in continuous professional development, reviewing teaching methods and effectiveness.

  • Actively participate in departmental and whole-school meetings.

  • Support and contribute to after-school activities, community events, and school initiatives.

  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant subject qualification and outstanding subject knowledge.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience teaching in a school setting.

  • Strong understanding of assessment, differentiation, and inclusion

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing requirements

Desirable:

  • Experience in the UAE.
