The Finance officer is responsible for activities that may include cash receipting, deposits, invoice review and processing, check requests, journal entries, account reconciliations, general accounting documentation, financial records maintenance, and other routine finance/accounting duties. They perform administrative and/or entry level finance/accounting tasks in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management.

It is a Primarily office-based position, with flexibility for remote work by mutual agreement with the manager and in line with business needs.

We’re Looking for You:

The Finance officer provides administrative and/or entry level accounting and finance support across Mainland China and Hong Kong to a business unit, program or department. The main responsibilities and scope include:

  • Performs routine administrative and entry-level finance/accounting activities under general supervision and established guidelines.
  • Supports Hong Kong finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment processing, accounting entries, documentation, filing, and record maintenance.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains supporting documentation for payments, expense claims, vendor records, journal entries, audit requests, and other routine finance transactions.
  • Maintains accurate financial data in TNC systems and supports timely system entries, coding, reconciliation follow-up, and document retention.
  • Provides documentation and administrative finance support for statutory audits, donor audits, internal control reviews, and other compliance-related requests.
  • Assists the Finance Manager, Hong Kong with project finance tracking, donor and membership-related documentation, budget support materials, routine reporting inputs, and quarterly business partnering materials as needed.
  • Communicates with staff, vendors, banks, auditors, shared-services colleagues, and other internal teams to obtain information, resolve routine finance questions, and support timely processing.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, internal controls, local legal requirements, and documentation standards.
  • Contributes to process consistency, knowledge sharing, cross-training, and backup coverage between the Hong Kong and China finance teams where appropriate.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 2 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.
  • Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated finance and accounting operations experience in Hong Kong is essential, with exposure to Mainland China operations strongly preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Non-profit accounting experience.
