This role supports Portugal finance operations by providing financial analysis, reporting, and insights that help guide business decisions across the market. The Finance Lead partners with local and regional finance and business  stakeholders to ensure accurate financial planning, performance tracking, and compliance. This position offers exposure to cross‑border finance activities and the opportunity to contribute to the financial health and growth of DePuy Synthes. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support Portugal financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities across regions and markets. 

• Prepare and analyze management reports, variance analyses, and performance dashboards for local and regional finance and business leaders. 

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies. 

• Conduct financial analyses of business results, trends, and drivers to support decision‑making. 

• Collaborate with regional finance teams to standardize reporting and improve financial processes. 

• Support internal and external audit requirements and respond to ad hoc financial requests. 

• Apply company financial controls, governance standards, and ethical principles in all activities. 

Qualifications 

Education 

• Required: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 

• Preferred: Master’s degree or MBA with a finance or business concentration. 

Experience and Skills 

Required: 

• Typically 5-8 years of relevant finance experience. 

• Foundational knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard financial systems or reporting tools. 

• Ability to work collaboratively in a global, cross‑functional environment. 

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance. 

Preferred: 

• Experience supporting senior commercial business partners.
• Exposure to multinational business environments.

• Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP reporting standards. 

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and financial reporting tools. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. 

Other: 

• Languages: English proficiency required; Portuguese or additional European/EMEA languages preferred. 

• Travel: Limited international travel may be required (approximately 5–10%). 

• Certifications: CPA, ACCA, or similar certification preferred but not required. 

• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in Portugal.
