ABOUT THE ROLE

The Finance Data Manager serves as the Finance Sub-Domain Data Lead and is accountable for executing upon governance, quality, lifecycle management, and business adoption of Finance data across Amgen’s enterprise landscape. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for critical Finance data sub-domains including General Accounting, Consolidations, Tax, Sourcing, Supplier Mgmt etc. The role partners closely with Finance, Enterprise Data Strategy, Technology, and Data Steward teams to ensure trusted, compliant, and reusable data that supports financial operations, reporting, analytics, AI enablement, and business transformation initiatives.

ROLE PURPOSE

Own and drive Finance master data governance outcomes by translating enterprise data policies and standards into practical business processes, controls, playbooks, stewardship practices, and training. Lead continuous improvement of data quality, governance adoption, compliance, and operational excellence while enabling successful ERP, data, and digital transformation programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own governance and lifecycle management of Finance sub domains inclusive of data objects including GL Accounts, Company Code extensions, Profit Centers, Profit Center Hierarchies, Cost Centers, Cost Center Hierarchies, WBS Elements, Expense Projects, Sales Organization Hierarchies, Country Chart of Accounts, Financial Statement Versions, Account Group Hierarchies, and related reference data.
• Serve as the Finance Sub-Domain Data Lead, translating enterprise data governance policies into finance-specific standards, SOPs, training materials, business rules, and governance playbooks.
• Drive process-to-data mapping across Record-to-Report (RTR), FP&A, Tax, General Accounting, and other Finance processes to establish clear ownership, accountability, critical data elements, and governance controls.
• Lead Finance master data governance forums and partner with Domain Data Leads, Data Stewards, business process owners, and technology teams to align governance priorities and business outcomes.
• Establish and monitor data quality metrics, KPIs, controls, and remediation plans to improve accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of Finance master data.
• Own Finance master data workflows and approval processes, ensuring appropriate controls, segregation of duties, compliance requirements, and audit readiness.
• Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate impacts of organizational, financial, regulatory, and system changes on Finance master data structures and governance processes.
• Drive metadata management, business definitions, lineage documentation, and critical data element governance to support trusted reporting and analytics.
• Identify governance adoption challenges and continuously improve standards, templates, guidance, controls, and reusable governance assets through stakeholder feedback.
• Support enterprise data strategy objectives, AI readiness initiatives, and data product enablement by ensuring Finance data is trusted, governed, and fit for purpose.
• Escalate material data risks, governance exceptions, quality issues, and compliance concerns to Domain Data Leads and governance councils as appropriate.
• Collaborate with internal and external audit teams and maintain governance evidence required to support regulatory, financial, and compliance reviews.
• Lead and mentor Finance Data Stewards while fostering a culture of data accountability, stewardship, and continuous improvement.

LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Enable adoption of enterprise governance standards across Finance sub-domains.
• Drive awareness of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across Finance organizations.
• Embed governance controls into operational workflows and system processes.
• Resolve data definition, hierarchy, ownership, and metric alignment issues.
• Support governance maturity assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent Finance sub domain data interests within Enterprise Data Enablement and Functional Data Enablement Councils.
• Ensure compliance-by-design principles are embedded across Finance data processes and transformation programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, STEM discipline, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Finance Master Data Management, Data Governance, Finance Operations, or Finance Transformation.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide data governance, master data, or ERP transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Finance business processes, controls, and reporting requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep expertise in Finance master data domains including GL Accounts, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, WBS, Project Systems, Hierarchies, and Chart of Accounts.
• Experience supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA Finance implementations and migrations.
• Knowledge of SAP MDG, data quality platforms, metadata management, and governance tools.
• Experience establishing governance operating models, stewardship programs, and data quality frameworks.
• Understanding of data lineage, metadata, critical data elements, and audit requirements.
• Experience supporting analytics, reporting, AI, and data product initiatives.
