This is a high-impact Finance Analyst role with end-to-end responsibility for the quality, integrity and timely delivery of financial accounting, statutory reporting, internal controls and tax compliance across the UK and Ireland. The role requires an experienced and independently operating finance professional who can lead accounting activities, critically assess financial information and resolve issues timely. Acting as a key partner to Local Finance, the Polish Finance Centre (PFC), European and US Finance teams, the successful candidate will set clear expectations, challenge constructively and drive deliverables through to completion.

Key Activities and Accountabilities:

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Own the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial results, ensuring all material balances and transactions are understood, appropriately accounted for and supported by a clear audit trail.
  • Lead key elements of the month-end and quarter-end close, proactively managing the timetable, identifying risks early and ensuring issues are resolved without compromising quality or deadlines.
  • Perform insightful review of the profit and loss account, balance sheet and underlying data; independently investigate variances, identify root causes and present clear conclusions and recommended actions.
  • Assist with the review and quality of balance sheet reconciliations, challenging aged, unusual or unsupported items and driving corrective actions to completion.
  • Actively support the local review and coordination of annual statutory financial statements and external audit deliverables, working effectively with the PFC, auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee accounting for assigned legal entities and high-risk areas, including revenue, accruals and tax.
  • Ensure intercompany cross-charges are accurate, appropriately supported and completed on a timely basis, and taking the lead in resolving any related issues.

Internal Controls Compliance

  • Critically assess control performance and supporting evidence, independently identifying deficiencies, root causes and practical remediation actions
  • Maintain high-quality process narratives, risk and control matrices and related documentation, ensuring they accurately reflect current processes and responsibilities.
  • Partner with process owners and the PFC to strengthen control execution, hold stakeholders accountable for agreed actions and ensure remediation is delivered on time.
  • Challenge existing processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve accuracy, control, efficiency and scalability.

Tax compliance

  • Play a leading role in the UK Senior Accounting Officer compliance programme, assessing tax controls and driving actions with process owners in timely manner.
  • Maintain tax control frameworks, risk matrices and process narratives, ensuring risks are clearly understood and controls remain effective.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate delivery of corporation tax, PSA, ERS and other local compliance requirements in partnership with internal teams and external advisers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal tax stakeholders and external advisers.

Other

  • Act as the key Local Finance partner to the PFC, setting expectations, reviewing outputs critically and holding teams accountable for quality and delivery.
  • Lead or contribute to local and regional finance projects, bringing strong financial control, technical accounting and practical implementation expertise.
  • Manage competing priorities and critical corporate and divisional deadlines with minimal supervision, escalating risks early and with proposed solutions.
  • Build trusted relationships across Finance and the wider business.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and high-quality of work across the wider finance team.

Requirements:

Education

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a complex, fast-paced finance function or accounting practice, with the credibility to operate independently.
  • Strong experience of month-end close, balance sheet control, statutory reporting, audit and tax compliance.
  • Proven relevant industry experience in a large organisation.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex financial information, identify root causes, form independent conclusions and translate findings into clear actions.
  • Experience overseeing work delivered by others, including setting expectations, reviewing quality and driving timely resolution of issues.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets; Power BI capability is strongly preferred.

Competencies

  • Proactive ownership and accountability – Takes end-to-end responsibility for deliverables, manages dependencies and drives actions through to completion without repeated prompting.
  • Accuracy and quality – Produces consistently reliable, well-supported work; applies self-review, understands the wider financial impact of outputs and identifies issues before they reach stakeholders.
  • Independent analysis and problem solving – Interrogates underlying data, identifies root causes and reaches sound conclusions independently rather than relying on others to provide answers.
  • Constructive challenge and continuous improvement – Demonstrates curiosity and professional scepticism, challenges unusual outcomes and established ways of working, and suggests practical improvements.
  • PFC leadership and partnership – Builds a strong one-team relationship with the PFC while maintaining clear accountability for quality, deadlines and resolution of issues.
  • Planning and delivery – Prioritises effectively across multiple workstreams, works calmly under pressure and consistently meets demanding month-end, statutory and corporate deadlines.
  • Decision making/judgement – Selects effective approaches to solving issues, based on available information and business objectives.
  • Learning agility – Builds understanding quickly, retains and applies feedback, and becomes increasingly effective with limited supervision.
  • Drive and impact – Brings energy, resilience and a strong personal commitment to raising standards and adding value across the organisation.
