The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing onsite service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities at customer locations while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer standards. This role supports a variety of mechanical, electrical, diesel, and related equipment systems, conducts preventive maintenance activities, manages parts inventory, and identifies and resolves equipment and workplace safety concerns.

The successful candidate will interact directly with customers, support multiple sites and technologies, and demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to diagnose issues and deliver effective solutions. This position requires a commitment to safety, customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform field service activities, including equipment inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and commissioning.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, diesel, and related equipment issues and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and inventory documentation.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve safety concerns involving company and customer-owned equipment.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships through professional communication and service excellence.
  • Protect and properly maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and other assets.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently when required.
  • Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and ownership in delivering high-quality results.
  • Adapt to varying customer environments, technologies, and work assignments.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent local travel is required to customer sites.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Must meet company and customer driving qualification standards.

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with applicable endorsements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to secure required customer access credentials and clearances, including TWIC, DISA, and other site-specific requirements.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of technical field service, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, diesel, or related experience preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience required.
  • Experience working in industrial, construction, manufacturing, utility, or related environments is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, diesel, fusion, or related equipment systems, depending on business unit requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and apply critical-thinking skills to identify effective solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and smart/mobile devices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Driving & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete all applicable driving and compliance requirements, which may include:

  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review
  • Driver Application for Employment
  • Driver Disclosure and Release
  • Employee Applicant Drug and Alcohol Statement
  • FMCSA Certificate of Awareness
  • Driver Certificate of Violations
  • Driver Statement of On-Duty Hours
  • Road Test (if applicable)
  • Copy of valid driver's license
  • Copy of current medical certificate

This position may be subject to additional customer-specific access, safety, and compliance requirements.

The estimated pay rate for this position is $22-34 per hour, depending on skills and experience. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
