Junior Field Service Project Manager

What Will You Do at Ciena?

Ciena Government Solutions Team (CGSI) is seeking a motivated Junior Field Service Project Manager to support the successful delivery of field service projects. This role involves assisting with project planning, execution, and closeout activities while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to project objectives.

The primary responsibility of the Junior Field Service Project Manager is to work alongside senior Service Project Managers and assist with all aspects of project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect all relevant project information required to scope and budget project deliverables.
  • Coordinate all required project resources and provide support to manage those resources throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate project deliverables to ensure timely customer delivery.

Primary Duties

  • Assist Senior Project Managers with Engineering, Furnish, and Install (EF&I) project financials, schedules, scope, and quality management.
  • Validate that the Project Sales Order and Statement of Work (SOW) are aligned.
  • Build and manage detailed project plans from project initiation through completion.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Deployment Coordinators, partners, and customers to execute project tasks and achieve milestones.
  • Maintain project schedules, track deviations, and implement timely corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders and management.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication among internal teams, external suppliers, and customers.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to project management practices.
  • Manage multiple projects within the CGSI customer base as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Technical degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to adjust work schedules to meet project demands, including support for after-hours calls involving overseas projects.
  • Ability to travel to customer locations for key project-related meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
