Job Description Summary

Field Service Engineer support on projects and multi-year service contracts within the Grid Automation business, helping clients in Sub-Saharan Africa with all technical aspects. They are part of a community of experts familiar with Substation Protection and Control Systems, in charge of commissioning and maintaining GEV Grid Automation systems and solutions according to the highest quality standards. They are also solving technical issues and providing quick responses to maximize asset availability and customer satisfaction.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and inspection of site activities in coordination with the end client on current, new, and legacy protection, automation, and control technologies.
  • Commission GEV Grid Automation protection, automation, and control systems on-site at the client's location
  • Assist and lead technical meetings with clients, identify solutions that meet their needs, and promote them.
  • Carry out minor renovation/improvement projects, identifying opportunities for client developments.
  • Coordinate the resolution of technical issues on multi-year service contracts (O&M).
  • Provide remote (hotline) support to clients in troubleshooting and internal follow-up of technical issues encountered during operation.
  • Perform maintenance and technical support activities remotely and/or on-site during projects execution


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineer, electronic, Electro technic or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Automation and Controls
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of substation commissioning mainly in Protection and Control Command including the use of commissioning tools
  • Fluency in both English and French

  • Experience in Automation Engineering could be a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70% of the time, as required
