Job Purpose

The Field Application Technician is responsible for providing technical support to customers and internal teams, managing ReturnMaterial Authorisation (RMA) activities, supporting quality improvementinitiatives and conducting product validation. The role ensures timelyresolution of technical issues while maintaining high standards of productquality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

• Provide technical support to external and internal departments.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, firmware, and system-related issues.
• Perform fault isolation and root cause analysis on product failures.
• Assist and support with product checking / evaluations, technical investigations and testing.
• Prepare technical reports, troubleshooting guides and test procedures.

2. RMA (Return Material Authorisation) Management

• Process customer RMA requests in accordance with company procedures.
• Inspect, test, and evaluate returned products to determine failure causes.
• Perform repair, refurbishment, or replacement where applicable.
• Document failure analysis findings and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate RMA records and service history.
• Monitor RMA turnaround time and ensure timely customer response.

3. Quality Support

• Investigate customer complaints and product quality issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis using recognised problem-solving methodologies (e.g. 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram).
• Support implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Assist in analysing field failure data and reliability trends.
• Verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and industry standards.

4. Customer Support

• Perform product demonstrations and customer training.
• Maintain a professional relationship with customers and provide excellent service.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare technical reports, and failure analysis documentation.
• Update technical documentation and knowledge databases.
• Record lessons learned and recommend product improvements.
• Ensure documentation complies with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams.
• Support engineering investigations and product improvement initiatives.
• Communicate customer feedback to improve product performance and reliability.
• Participate in technical meetings and project reviews.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related major.
• Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, as this role involves liaising with our associates in China.
• 3-5 years of FAE experience.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems is preferred.
• Experience with knowledge management systems and practices.
• Understanding of automation and AI technologies and their application in improving workflow efficiency.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong analytical and multitasking skills.
