What You Will Do

Johnson Controls is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician (Electrician) to support operations at Humber River Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems and facility equipment to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient healthcare environment. You will work closely with hospital staff, contractors, and fellow maintenance professionals to support uninterrupted facility operations.


How You Will Do It

Customer Service

  • Respond to customer inquiries, service requests, and operational needs in a professional, timely, and respectful manner.

Maintenance & Operations

  • Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building infrastructure to maximize system uptime and reliability.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and monitoring of facility systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate and perform high-voltage maintenance activities, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Complete generator testing and inspections in compliance with applicable codes and best practices.
  • Support maintenance activities across the hospital, including after-hours and weekend coverage when required.
  • Record maintenance activities, work orders, and resolutions within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitor and report equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
  • Assist with facility-related projects, equipment upgrades, and seasonal maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company, hospital, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Comply with Occupational Health & Safety, environmental, infection control, and fire protection standards.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with established procedures and permits.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and hospital code events as required.

Teamwork

  • Collaborate effectively with hospital staff, contractors, supervisors, and fellow technicians.
  • Participate in departmental training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.

What We Look For

Required

  • Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A) license.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems within large commercial, institutional, or industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including on-call, standby, emergency call-outs, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work from ladders, step stools, and at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work extended periods on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Successful completion of required background and security screening.

Preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of facility maintenance experience in healthcare, manufacturing, food processing, higher education, commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS); Metasys experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency using computers, mobile devices, and CMMS platforms.
  • Strong customer service orientation and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality related to Johnson Controls and customer operations.
  • Comfortable working at heights.

* This is a bargaining unit position *


Pay Rate: $36.04 per hour, with an additional $5.00 per hour premium for candidates holding a valid Electrician ticket ,determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
