The FMR leads daily operational coordination, continuous improvement, strategic facility planning, and issue resolution to deliver a high-quality workplace experience while advancing GM safety, quality, cost, responsiveness, and environmental objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate day-to-day facilities activities for assigned buildings and/or business units to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of maintenance, housekeeping, roads and grounds, and related building services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between tenants and ICC, maintaining clear communication, resolving daily needs, and coordinating longer-term facility projects.
  • Lead and monitor service agreement provider and subcontractor performance, ensuring efficient execution, compliance with contractual requirements, and continuous improvement through lessons learned and best-practice sharing.
  • Drive strategic and analytical facility planning using industry benchmarks to optimize space utilization, moves and furniture/ergonomics services, energy efficiency, service agreement deliverables, and on-demand work.
  • Apply Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles and elements to plan, execute, and sustain operational improvements, including support for Business Plan Deployment (BPD) and BIQ4 requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with GM Global Safety standards and workplace safety processes, including Speak Up for Safety, Global Call to Action, Safety Observation Tours, employee safety concerns, incident investigation, safety training compliance, sentinel events, contractor safety management, working at heights, management of change, and emergency response.
  • Partner with Engineering, Resource Management, Communications, Real Estate, Food and Administration Services, and other stakeholders to resource and deliver facility solutions.
  • Apply sound business acumen to facility operations, including staffing, contracts, risk management, business continuity, and supplier performance.
  • Support environmental requirements, sustainability initiatives, and energy-management objectives within assigned facilities.
  • Lead complex problem solving and project execution across multiple sites, balancing tactical execution with long-term facility strategy.

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, motivate others, manage positive change, and act with integrity and trust.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to address abstract, complex, and ambiguous operational issues.
  • Proven project-management skills and the ability to manage complex organizations, service providers, and contracts.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect operational decisions to safety, quality, customer experience, cost, risk, and environmental outcomes.
  • Technical and functional expertise in facilities operations, building services, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access; experience with CAD and Maximo is preferred.
  • Agility, creativity, and a results-oriented mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, multi-site environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, workplace services, property management, manufacturing support, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating external service providers, contractors, or subcontractors.
  • Experience supporting safety, compliance, maintenance, and continuous-improvement activities in a complex operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting facilities operations across multiple sites.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or large corporate campus environment.
  • Knowledge of GMS, BPD, workplace safety systems, environmental compliance, and business continuity practices.
  • Experience with service agreement management, supplier performance, space planning, energy management, and capital or facility-improvement projects.
