What this role is all about
Food & Beverage is more than restaurants and events — it’s a key part of the guest experience and a major driver of hotel performance. As the Director of Food & Beverage, you’ll lead the overall strategy, operations, guest experience, and financial performance of all Food & Beverage outlets across the property.
This is a dynamic leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced hospitality environments and loves balancing operational excellence, team leadership, guest satisfaction, and commercial strategy. You’ll oversee restaurants, bars, lounges, banquets, catering, room service, and culinary operations while partnering closely with Executive Chefs, Banquets, Sales, Revenue, and hotel leadership teams to deliver exceptional experiences and strong business results.

The F&B Director is responsible for directing and managing the Food and Beverage function within the property and is responsible for maintaining the Food and Beverage quality and service standards as well as driving profits. The F&B Director sets the tone for Sonesta’s Culture of Caring. We expect leaders to focus on creating amazing moments for guests and team members and dig deep to find ways to create success for their team.

What you’ll be doing
Lead all Food & Beverage operations across restaurants, bars, lounges, banquets, catering, room service, and special events.
Develop and execute Food & Beverage strategies designed to drive guest satisfaction, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Oversee restaurant operations, banquet service, catering execution, culinary partnerships, and service standards across all dining outlets.
Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop Food & Beverage leadership teams and operational staff to support high performance and employee engagement.
Partner closely with Executive Chefs, Culinary teams, Banquets, Sales, Revenue Management, and hotel leadership to align operational and commercial strategies.
Monitor Food & Beverage revenue performance, labor costs, food costs, beverage costs, inventory management, forecasting, and departmental budgets.
Analyze guest feedback, service trends, financial performance metrics, and operational KPIs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Drive guest experience initiatives, service excellence standards, menu innovation, upselling strategies, and operational consistency across all outlets.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, HACCP guidelines, alcohol service laws, OSHA requirements, and health department standards.
Oversee banquet and catering operations for meetings, conferences, weddings, corporate events, and social functions to ensure flawless execution.
Support marketing, promotions, local partnerships, and Food & Beverage programming initiatives designed to increase visibility and guest engagement.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and operational partners while overseeing purchasing and inventory management processes.
Help foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture aligned with Sonesta’s People People philosophy.

What great looks like
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Food & Beverage Management, Culinary Management, or related field preferred.
7+ years of progressive Food & Beverage leadership experience within hotels, resorts, restaurants, or hospitality operations.
Previous Director of Food & Beverage, Restaurant General Manager, Banquet Director, or multi-outlet hospitality leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, banquet management, catering sales, bar operations, culinary coordination, and guest service excellence.
Experience managing Food & Beverage financials including forecasting, budgeting, labor management, inventory control, cost analysis, and profitability.
Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and inspire operational teams.
Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP standards, sanitation procedures, alcohol service laws, and health department compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment while balancing operational demands and guest expectations.
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in hospitality operations.
