Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and curious Defect Control Technician to join our world-class manufacturing team in Taylor, Texas. In this role, you act as the "Technical Detective" of the fab and the first line of defense in protecting our product and ensuring the highest quality standards. You will be tasked with solving high-stakes puzzles: when an SPC alarm triggers, you will dive into the data, analyze details in defect images, and piece together the evidence to uncover the source of a defect. Your expertise and quick thinking prevent defective wafers from moving forward, making you a vital guardian of the factory's success. If you enjoy investigation, pattern recognition, and the satisfaction uncovering the key evidence to solve a technical mystery, this is the role for you.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• First-Response Evaluation: Monitor Defect SPC alarms in real-time and perform the initial triage of defect excursions to determine if they are random noise or a real tool failure.

• Defect Identification: Utilize the defect catalog and historical image databases to characterize defect morphology, identifying key nuances in images that point to a specific process source.

• Containment & Tool Control: Execute the authority to shut down defective tools immediately to prevent the processing of additional wafers.

• Evidence Gathering: Generate comprehensive technical justifications for tool shutdowns, combining image analysis with "commonality" and trend data (e.g., identifying that all affected wafers passed through a specific chamber).

• Data-Driven Correlation: Perform basic commonality analysis and trend reviews to provide circumstantial evidence that supports the root cause hypothesis.

• Recovery Validation: Perform data review when the tool is recovered to ensure the tool has returned to a healthy manufacturing state before releasing it back to production.

• Documentation & Standards: Able to accurately follow written documents and instructions. Must be able to generate clear communication of items evaluated, and actions taken to allow for a clear audit trail and easy hand off at times such as shift change.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

• High School Diploma or technical school certification preferred.

• Minimum Years: 2+ years of experience in a semiconductor fab or a high-volume precision manufacturing environment.

• Technical Proficiency: Experience working with defects and basic knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes.

The current base salary range for this role is between $26.00 - $33.00/hour. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
