The reporter will be driving IFR’s market-leading coverage of Asian equity capital markets deals from Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will need to build strong relationships with market participants and be able to explain trends and market moves clearly and accurately. The role involves writing short breaking news stories and occasional longer features. Skills in analysing data would be an advantage, as would Mandarin fluency.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Good English skills and an ability to work under pressure to deadlines are essential.
- Journalism experience is crucial. Priority will be given to candidates with experience covering financial markets. Relevant qualifications in finance / economics are desirable but not essential.
- The reporter must have the ability to come up with fresh ideas and different angles.
- Team work and interpersonal skills are important in this role, as the recruit will be working in a team spread across two countries, as well as interacting with our teams in London and New York occasionally.
- The reporter must be able to build contacts and exercise good judgement when dealing with news that could move markets. Having existing equity market contacts would be an advantage.
- Curiosity and Knowledge of AI: We value team members who bring at least a foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence—or a strong passion to grow in this space. At LSEG, we’re applying AI to streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and deliver better outcomes for our customers.
